At Smile Arc Pediatric Dentistry, we want quality dental care for your child to be easy to access and easy to afford. As a trusted pediatric dentist in San Diego, we work with many insurance providers and offer flexible financing so families across 4S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, and North County can get the care their children need without added stress. Our team handles the insurance legwork for you, so you can focus on your child.
Your Insurance Is Welcome Here
We are in network with many major PPO dental plans, including:
Aetna PPO, Ameritas, Careington, Cigna PPO, Delta Dental PPO, Dentemax, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, Liberty Dental, Lincoln Financial, Lineco, MetLife, Mutual of Omaha, Premier Access, Principal, Southwest Services, Sun Life (formerly Assurant), UMR, United Concordia, United Healthcare PPO, and UNUM.
Because insurance participation can change, our accepted plans may be updated from time to time. Do not see your plan? Call us at (858) 277-8086 and our team is happy to confirm your benefits and answer any questions.
How Your Insurance Works With Us
Before your child’s visit, we will contact your insurance provider and do our best to give you an estimated out-of-pocket cost. Please note that estimates are not a guarantee of coverage, and the estimated portion is due at the time of the visit.
As a courtesy, our team submits all insurance claims on your behalf. Once your insurance processes the claim, any remaining balance is billed to you. Dental insurance helps reduce the cost of care, but families remain responsible for charges regardless of coverage.
No Insurance? Flexible Financing for Families
You do not need dental insurance to get great care for your child. We offer flexible financing options designed to make care more manageable, and you can use financing on its own or combine it with insurance to cover deductibles, co-pays, or treatment not fully covered. Financing can be applied across a wide range of services, from exams and cleanings to fillings, crowns, and other recommended treatment. We also accept most major credit cards.
Billing and Payments
If you receive a statement with a remaining balance, we ask that payment be made as soon as possible. We understand that unexpected situations come up, and our team is always available to talk through billing questions or payment concerns. Payment responsibility remains with the family, regardless of insurance benefits, and we are glad to help you find an option that works.
Se Habla Espanol. Our team is happy to assist Spanish-speaking families with insurance, billing, and scheduling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need dental insurance for my child to be seen at Smile Arc?
Not at all. Many families choose us without dental insurance and use our flexible financing options instead. We will always give you a clear cost estimate up front so there are no surprises.
What if my PPO plan is not on your list?
Please call us at (858) 277-8086. Plan participation changes over time, and even if we are not listed as in network, our team can verify your out-of-network benefits and help you understand your options.
Can I use financing for both preventive and restorative care?
Yes. Financing can often be applied across a wide range of pediatric dental services, including exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, and other recommended treatment. Our team can help you understand what qualifies before your child’s visit.
Will applying for financing affect my credit score?
Some financing providers may perform a credit check during the application. Requirements and credit impact vary by provider, and our team is happy to explain the process so you can decide what feels right for your family.
Can I combine financing with my insurance benefits?
Yes. Financing is often used to cover out-of-pocket costs after insurance is applied, which can be especially helpful for managing deductibles, co-pays, or treatment that insurance does not fully cover.
